Does Unused Mean Safe to Delete?
No. It means no usage was detected in supported sources in the saved scan. Custom tables, arbitrary metadata formats, hard-coded theme/plugin files, external websites, offloaded storage, rewritten CDN URLs, and unsupported builder structures may not be represented. Inspect known integrations and Protect images that must remain.
Is the Inventory Every File on My Server?
No. The current default scope is local uploads images in JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP, with attachment and generated-size reconciliation. It is not an all-file, video, document, remote-storage, or server-wide cleaner. Missing local files may need offload-specific investigation. Do not assume multisite-wide discovery or cleanup from one site's screen.
Does Similar Images Clean Up Automatically?
No. Similar Images is manual review only. Perceptual hashing depends on GD and successful decoding and is not a guarantee of visual equivalence. Exact duplicate cleanup is separately guarded and does not merge attachment references.
What Does Free Include?
Inventory, usage analysis, classification, duplicate review, previews, Protect, Ignore, reporting/diagnostics, and restore. Quarantine and permanent deletion require Pro and cleanup entitlement. Restore remains free even when Pro is unavailable.
Does Quarantine Save Disk Space?
It moves the selected file to another directory on the server. Permanent deletion may reclaim space; generated sizes, caches, remote copies, and backups affect the actual amount. Displayed recoverable-storage estimates are not a complete disk accounting.
Will Images Disappear While Quarantined?
The original file has moved, so any use the scan missed may break. Some cached or generated copies may still appear. Check actual pages and responsive/product images, then Restore if needed. Quarantine does not purge every cache or replace content references.
Can I Undo Permanent Deletion?
Only from a separate backup. Media Sentry Restore works on intact quarantined files, not permanently deleted ones. Deletion can remove the attachment record and associated generated files through WordPress.
Does Protect Mean I Can Never Lose a File?
No. It blocks normal Media Sentry quarantine eligibility. It cannot prevent another plugin, server operator, filesystem change, or backup failure from deleting the file. Ignore is a review decision, not equivalent protection.
Are Reports Live or Complete Exports?
They use saved scan batches. Refresh after site changes. CLI report methods currently cap results at 10,000 rows, and some bulk selections and summaries use a 50,000-item cap. Large libraries should be reviewed in smaller filtered groups and checked for coverage. Prefer JSON for CLI export: the current CSV writer does not properly quote commas, quotes, or newlines in field values.
Can I Schedule Recurring Audits or Automatic Cleanup?
Recurring audit automation is unfinished. The existing schedule command registers a request hook that records a request, not a completed inventory/usage audit. It should not be used as an unattended monitoring solution. Background continuation of a scan or cleanup batch that you explicitly started is implemented; that is different from recurring discovery or retention-triggered deletion. Retention expiry never deletes files automatically.
Is There a Supported Public API?
No stable public API is promised for this release. Internal PHP classes, filters, and database tables are implementation details. Use the documented UI and practical WP-CLI commands; do not build a production integration around internal entitlement hooks.
What Happens After My Year of Maintenance?
Installed Pro functionality continues. Renew manually if you want another year of updates and support: $39 for one production site or $99 for five. Renewal is optional, with no automatic subscription. Lifetime updates and support are not included.
