Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download or buy Media Sentry now?
Media Sentry Free is the audit and restore plugin. Media Sentry Pro is available as a paid annual subscription for licensed cleanup workflows: $39/year for one production site or $99/year for five production sites.
What is free, and what requires Pro?
The free core includes audits, reference evidence, duplicate review, previews, Protect and Ignore decisions, quarantine history, and restore. Quarantine and eligible permanent deletion belong to the separate Pro add-on.
What will Pro cost?
Media Sentry Pro is $39/year for one production site or $99/year for five production sites, renewing automatically unless canceled.
What happens after purchase?
Lemon Squeezy provides the receipt, license key, and Pro ZIP. Install the ZIP in WordPress, then activate the license under Media Sentry > Pro License. Automatic updates require an active subscription and a validated site license.
Does paid cleanup stop when a subscription expires?
Yes. Paid quarantine and permanent deletion require a current subscription. Restore remains available in the free core for intact quarantined files with matching records and hashes.
Does unused mean safe to delete?
No. It means the scan did not detect site usage. Custom integrations, external links, or uses outside the scan’s coverage may still depend on a file. Review the evidence and keep a backup before cleanup.
Are similar images treated as exact duplicates?
No. Exact duplicates use file hashes. Similar images are review candidates, not interchangeable copies, and do not offer direct permanent deletion.
Can quarantined media be restored without Pro?
Yes. Restoration belongs to the free core and remains available with Pro inactive or absent, subject to the file and restore checks. Permanently deleted files cannot be recovered through quarantine restore.
Does quarantine delete files automatically?
No. The default retention period is 30 days. Passing that period makes a quarantined item eligible for an explicit permanent-delete action; it does not trigger a purge. Deletion requires confirmation and must pass the current checks.
Do I still need a backup?
Yes. Quarantine is a review and recovery step, not a site backup. Back up the database, uploads, Media Sentry tables, and the Media Sentry quarantine directory before cleanup, migration, or updates.
